Rainy days and Phillies…

Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, “Heard” items, and other small gems (hint: a notebook is helpful 🙂 and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Then leave a link to your Friday Fragments post with Linky Tools and link back to Mrs. 4444 here: my main page in your post.

It is freeing you should give it a try…

*It is raining in Philadelphia and its chilly again. This is not funny anymore!

*I am a real Phillies phan and have been since I was a little kid.  This season was such a disappointment. Over the winter, my favorite player, Carlos Ruiz [Chooch] was suspended for using some sort of banned substance. He was back for only a short time and got hurt. As the catcher Chooch was like a leader for the pitchers. With him gone and so many new player’s the team did not click at all.  I am mad at him for taking whatever the ‘substance’ was and I know ‘everyone’ uses them and athletes have used them for decades but that doesn’t make it right. Anyway, something happened last week and suddenly my Phillies started to win and yikes, they are on a five game winning strike. What do you think of the whole steroid thing in professional sports?

*What is going on in Washington? I know it has always been a shady kind of town no matter who is in charge but dear Lord I wish I had the money and the time to start a campaign to vote against every single incumbent for six years.  Flush all of them out and vote in qualified people with no political experience. Public office needs to be public service not a career.

*My daughter’s husband fell down the steps while carrying a small air conditioner and broke his leg in two places. My daughter was then bitten badly on her arm by their neighbor’s dog. They need to move by the end of the month. How do you get rid of bad luck because these two… oh my:(

*A beach vacation isn’t really a vacation. You have to bring all of your own linens, food, supplies and the list of stuff is just endless. When the week is up you have to pack all that stuff and bring it home and put it away. I am working on all of that. I cannot believe the beach week is in two weeks. What makes it all worth while is being with the family, wine on the deck with my daughter at sunset, walking along the beach with my husband at sunrise and jumping the waves with my grandchildren. Its about the memories and so many of my happiest memories were created at the Jersey Shore. #JerseyStrong

Have a blessed weekend,

  • I miss the “shore”, we used to go over summer when I was a kid. Now we go to a timeshare in California, much better, everything at our fingertips.

  • Oh honey – I would not take that kind of a beach vacay. Find a place that provides linens and eat the main meal out.

    That’s my advice.

  • Ohhhh Doreen! I’m so sorry about your son-in-law and daughter! I sure hope their luck turns around soon, they totally deserve it!

Having a chance to sip wine on the deck with your daughter and take long walks on the beach would totally be worth the non-vacation aspect of the beach vacation. 🙂

Farewell to Friday for a Temporary Hiatus

  • Prayers for your daughter and her husband. Ouch.

Also, beach vacation. Even if I had to pack my own linens I’d be all ‘sign me up!’ You will have a blast and all the trouble of packing/unpacking will be soon forgotten.
