We would have loved going to the game for the first time, it is only an hour away, in New Jersey but decided with a foot of snow on the ground and temperatures in the single digits our big red sofa with a big ole pot of chile on the stove this is the place to be…

We like our chili mild. If you prefer it hotter just add chili powder or more chili pepper. I make a large pot and freeze the leftovers for quick and warm winter lunches or dinners…

Chile

Ingredients

Family pack of lean ground beef or turkey (3lbs)

1 green pepper

1 red pepper

1 yellow pepper

1 small red onion

1 clove fresh garlic

1 small chili pepper

2 carrots

¼ cup olive oil

2 large cans hunts tomato sauce

2 large cans Hunts Diced Tomatoes

1 large can Hunts crushed tomato

2 small cans Hunts tomato paste

3 large cans Dark red kidney beans

In a large skillet slowly heat the olive oil. Dice peppers, onions, garlic and carrots and cook in oil until softened and slightly browned. Add ground meat stirring until browned. Drain. Put 3 cans of sauce in large pot. Add hamburger mixture, diced and crushed tomatoes, paste and stir. Cook on low heat. Pour a glass of wine, sip slowly. I dislike opening all those cans so the wine helps. Drain and rinse beans and add to the pot stirring until well blended. Add two teaspoons of black pepper, ½ teaspoon salt and a ½ teaspoon of sugar. Cover and continue cooking over low heat stirring often for 1 hour. I serve it with sour cream, shredded cheddar and either crackers or biscuits.

Who are you rooting for?
