Music Monday featuring: Ty March…
So many of the happiest memories I have are filled with music. It’s like the sound is woven through them, holding them together. Most of my saddest memories have music attached too. I married a DJ so he has a story for every song he hears too!
Because music is so important to me, such a part of my life I’ve wanted to join in on Music Monday posts for the longest time.
My Music Monday posts will include interviews and music from new and veteran artists as well as the music that has meant the most to me throughout my life.
This week I want to introduce you to a newcomer to the Country Music Community. Don’t let newcomer fool you. Ty March originally came to fame as the drummer for the metal core band Capture the Crown. He played drums and toured with them from 2010 to 2014.
While on tour with the metal band, 26-year-old Ty was writing country songs. He recently made the move to Nashville and was named the “Independent Country Artist to Watch” in 2016.

The Interview
What kind of music did your parents listen to while you were growing up?
My parents listened to a lot of older country and 90’s country. Dad would bump Garth Brooks in the car and mom would be playing Shania. Alan Jackson and George Jones were also some of my Dad’s favorites.
Did they encourage you to play the drums or did you encourage them to let you play? Do you play any other instruments?
I started out wanting to play guitar, so they bought me a guitar and I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would so they got me drums and I loved playing the drums. They were always really supportive.
You grew up in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. I’ve been there, to the car auction. How country is your home county?
The area my parents live in where I grew up is pretty dang country. There are a lot of hunters and farms in the area.
What was your first job?
I was a lifeguard at the Carlisle YMCA. Haha
Your birthday is June 11th. The number 1 represents angels and some say if you are born on the 11th day of the month you have two guardian angels. Do you believe that?
Definitely 🙂 they have always been there for me.
Who are your favorite old school country performers? Who are your favorite present day performers?
Old school wise: Alan Jackson
New school: Florida Georgia Line
Have you had a star-struck moment since moving to Nashville?
Nope. I guess at the end of the day everyone is just a human to me.
What is your go to comfort food?
Pizza! And most recently Nashville hot chicken!
Are you a TV watcher? Do you have a guilty pleasure favorite show?
I don’t watch much but I love the show Vikings! I’m kind of an undercover nerd. I love Lord of The Rings and stuff like that too.
Is there a single we can call our radio stations to request for you?
“Mr. Right Now”
Where can we buy your music?
Ty March on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and Amazon music!
Where can we find you on social media?
www.twitter.com/tymarchcountry
Thank you so much Ty, and the best of luck. We are cheering you on!
Yes, yes to all of that. She is what she is without apologies or extanlapions (we spend so much time as women justifying or explaining our actions to others). So much to learn from her. (and Hi! I’m a bit of a lurker in your blog, just saying hello!)
Ty my birthday is the day after your brother.
very professional Ty on the interview outstanding. love your music I listen to it everyday.
I’m in Nashville right now so this seems very appropriate!
I love Nashville!
what a transition! From metal to country is quite a leap but I’m glad he’s found what he loves and is making a name for himself. I love the idea of your music Mondays!
I know, crazy!
Love the idea of Music Monday! I have started to really enjoy Country Music since it has migrated into more of a mix of country and rock.
It really does sound like our rock & roll from back in the day:)
I haven’t heard of Ty, but i do like country music, mostly from the 90s and earlier.
I am a big fan of 80’s-90’s country!
I’m not really into country music although in Australia we have the Tamworth Country Music Awards which is a celebration of all music in this genre. Enjoyed reading your interview.
A big thank you to Australia for giving us Keith Urban:)
Interesting to hear about Ty March and that he’s from Pennsylvania. Keith Urban is from Australia so I guess there is country everywhere.
We do seem to have a lot of country artists from Pennsylvania.Taylor Swift is a local girl:)
I’ll have to give a listen…my genre is rock and roll, classic, instrumental. I love old country though.
I love it all too, classic rock and old country are my go to favorites.
I’m going to be loving your Music Monday and you started off with my favorite genre, country. Loved this interview, it’s nice getting to know a little more about the artist I listen to on the radio.
Country is my favorite too!
