Foodie Friday Fragments…

Foodie Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, “Heard” items, and other small gems throughout your week and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Add a recipe or something ‘foodie’ from your week. Leave me a link in the comments so I can read your fragments!

The original host of Friday Fragments was Mrs. 4444’s. You can find some of those posts here: (half past kissin’ time to kiss again.)

Thank God It’s Friday! What a busy week I’ve had. How about you? Are you doing any fun Spring- type things or is it all work? Do you do Spring cleaning? I honestly need to do some serious cleaning and organizing but instead I’m on beach vacation countdown. In one month I will be on the beach with my 5-kids; their spouses; their children and all of my in-laws and their families. I’ll be the one wearing glamorous sun glasses and a cute new bathing suit and I’ll have an Orange Creamsicle drink in my hand. I’m looking forward to watching the little’s (my youngest granddaughters) building sandcastles. The boys will be in the water on their boogie boards and the older girls will definitely be surfing the sand for cute boys! I can’t wait!

Frozen Creamsicle

¾ cup of not from concentrate orange juice

¼ cup of real vanilla bean ice-cream

1 shot of Pinnacle orange whipped cream vodka or any Orange vodka (1.5 oz.)

2 ice cubes

Whipped Cream and orange slices for topping

Put all ingredients in blender (except toppings) and blend until smooth

Serve in a tall daiquiri glass or in a fancy Martini glass. Garnish with orange slices and whipped cream. Find a beach😊

I’ve been a Press Club board member for 6-years. Wednesday was the end of my 3rd-2 year term. It was supposed to be one-2 yr. term. I’m a bit sad but also looking forward to what the new members will do. The same day I became a Family Promise   board member. Ending homelessness in my county, state and in this country is my passion. I’m hoping I can make a difference.

I had the opportunity to meet Jeff Rotwitt the owner of Sun Center Studios also known as Hollywood East. The Center is practically in my back yard. The upcoming movie Untouchables starring Nicole Kidman, Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston was recently filmed there as well as Silver Linings Playbook, Creed and many more. Exciting things are coming to the center! A hotel, an indoor (it gets pretty cold here) Universal Studio type attraction and more music events. It’s all so exciting and will create quite a few jobs. They should break ground in the fall. I’m looking forward to interviewing Jeff’s daughter Julie in the near future.

Did you watch the first season of Animal Kingdom? If you were a fan of the Soprano’s or Son’s of Anarchy I recommend this one. The second season starts May 30th on TNT. The first season makes a great binge watch! When a heroin overdose kills his mother, teenager J Cody (Finn Cole) has to move to Southern California to live with his estranged grandmother, ‘Smurf’ played well by Ellen Barkin. Smurf runs the family business , a criminal enterprise. The storyline is actually believable and that’s scary.

My granddaughter Julia went to prom last Friday. She looked gorgeous! Her cousin Allyson did a stunning job on hair and makeup.

The manuscript for my 3rd book, Realize Your Writing Dreams will be going to my editor next Wednesday! Finally!

I facilitated 3 seminars for SCORE on marketing last week. All 3 were so much fun! I love meeting entrepreneurs and am always fascinated at how many creative new businesses there are out there.

This week I’ll be preparing for the #NJSCBWI where I’m presenting a workshop on Marketing Books and for the #PhiladelphiaWritersConference I’ll be presenting a workshop on Memoir. If you are interested in attending the Philadelphia conference, please email me:

The annual Victorious Woman Girlfriend Gala is next Wednesday. It’s a fundraiser for a non-traditional nursing student. I’ve been on the committee for 4-years and love watching all of those details turn into one fabulously fun night with girlfriends. We finished wrapping the raffle baskets and silent auction items this morning. I can’t wait!

Have a blessed weekend,

  • Wow! You have been busy and congrats on getting your third book done. So excited for you. I cleaned my house yesterday. We have to move but cleaned it anyway. I never seem to have time for that but couldn’t stand it anymore. Love the creamsicle recipe. I’ll have to try it.
