To Share and Encourage…

It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for the monthly meeting of the

Insecure Writers support group

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.

Happy 6th Anniversary to the Insecure Writers Support Group! I love this group and am so grateful to the groups’ founder, Alex J. Cavanaugh and all the volunteers that work so hard to make it fabulous! September also means it’s time for another Insecure Writers Support Group Anthology, Visit the website for more info!

September’s optional #IWSG question – Have you ever surprised yourself with your writing? For example, by trying a new genre you didn’t think you’d be comfortable in?

Why yes, I have surprised myself with my writing. I got the crazy idea to write a ‘scary’ story for a contest. The one surprise was I had a great time writing it and it was chosen as one of the winners. The second surprise was I wrote the story about a ‘something’ in the closet of my office and I haven’t worked in there since. I’m terrified. Lesson learned was from now on I’m writing scary stories based in foreign countries.

The 3rd surprise is I’m involved with a group that is putting together an anthology and guess what the theme is? It’s Outer or Other Worldly experiences. Yikes! I probably won’t sleep for a year or maybe ever again. More info coming on that project soon!

This anthology is part of my insecurity this month. I’ve worked on an anthology before but that was as a judge. This one comes with a lot more responsibility. As usual that darn little voice in my head keeps saying, “You can’t do this. You won’t be successful.” That voice can just step back and I’m going to keep moving forward. Sounds good, right?

I’m starting to feel that crunched feeling that happens because I didn’t reach my spring or summer writing goals and the end of 2017 is looming.

What has you insecure this month?

Be sure to visit this month’s awesome co-hosts:

Tyrean Martinson, Tara Tyler, Raimey Gallant, and Beverly Stowe McClure!
